Meet the Staff: Shaitra Ken, COVID-19 Referral Specialist

Through our Coordinated Entry & Outreach pillar, we work to prioritize building equitable housing resources for the Sacramento community. We sat down with Shaitra to learn more about her and the focus of her role as COVID-19 Referral Specialist.

What does your role entail at SSF?

I connect unhoused individuals with COVID-19 and get them into the Comfort Inn Isolation shelter.

What motivated you to join SSF?

I like the idea of helping people get off of the streets and into safe spaces where they are provided with resources.

What do you wish people knew about homelessness?

I wish people knew that these are human beings with varied stories and deserve dignity during this uncertain period of their lives.

What are you excited to do next in your new role?

I’m excited to be in service of a greater good! For a long while, I was working with privileged folks, so it’s quite rewarding to be able to work with people that are in need.

Shaitra is excited about SSF’s systematic approach to solving the homeless crisis that is impacting our community and is honored to be a part of this greater vision. She also finds the team inspiring and is appreciative of how well the team works together.

We encourage you to read more about our Coordinated Entry System as well as relevant policies and standards.

Stay connected with SSF!
