Many of us carry stressful and traumatic experiences with us in our day-to-day lives, given that stress is a normal part of life. However, chronic stress and the experience of traumatic events can wreak havoc on our overall wellness. Furthermore, experiencing those stressors and trauma igniters in an integrated work environment can be especially stressful.
Â
In this seminar, we will discuss the foundations of trauma and chronic stress, what to consider as providers and staff in an integrated environment, tenants of trauma-informed practice and engagement, as well as strategies to promote wellness in an inclusive manner for everyone in the workplace.
Â
LEARNING OBJECTIVES By the end of this seminar, attendees should be able to:
Â
1. Define post-traumatic stress and what constitutes having a traumatic experience
2. Identify the key assumptions and principles of trauma-informed practice
3. Identify the areas of practice and administration that need trauma-informed support in order to best support an integrated organization.
