Point-in-Time (PIT) Count

The Point-in-Time (PIT) count is a biennial survey conducted on a single night in every other January to count both sheltered and unsheltered homeless individuals.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) mandates that Continuums of Care conduct this count annually for individuals staying in emergency shelters, transitional housing, and Safe Havens on a designated night.
