CAS Explanations: “Enrollments in Shelter”

Defining the terminology used by Sacramento’s Coordinated Access System (CAS). Learn more about CAS here

“Enrollments in shelter” measures the number of households (individuals and families) that, through the 2-1-1 (#8) Housing Crisis Line, were placed in temporary shelter to bring people off the streets. This number helps us evaluate our homelessness response system’s ability to provide safety and respite for those without shelter and those unable to immediately access housing. The ability to effectively enroll households in shelters reflects an essential role of 2-1-1 (#8) in working towards a future where no individual or family is left without shelter.
