Following introductory remarks by Angela Upshaw, Chief Operating Officer of Insight Housing and Chair of Sacramento Continuum of Care, we hosted a panel discussion on recent pivotal developments in federal policy and the impact on state and local-level housing and homelessness strategies. Facilitated by Dr. Ayanna McGee, SSF Director of System Integration, this conversation identified opportunities for alignment and collaboration.

• Natalie Spievack, Senior Policy Advocate, Housing California

• Joseph Smith, Director of Residential Services, Hope Cooperative, and Vice-Chair, Sacramento Continuum of Care

2024 State of Homelessness: 10:30 – 11:45 a.m.

Dr. Trent Simmons presented data on the “State of Homelessness” in the Sacramento region.

Networking Lunch: 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Afternoon Planning Sessions: 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Meeting participants separated into smaller groups and discussed activities and strategies related to the Regionally Coordinated Homelessness Action Plan. Sacramento Steps Forward staff and the People with Lived Expertise of Homelessness Committee members led these conversations.

Questions included:

• What activities and investments should the CoC pursue to help effect change in our community? 

• What inspirations or lessons can be learned from the morning sessions to inform the CoC’s direction? 

Participants will have an opportunity to join two groups to provide feedback and make recommendations.
