Here at SSF, we seek diverse individuals who share a dedication to driving system-level changes to end and prevent homelessness in Sacramento using human-centered approaches.
We sat down with Michael Colton to learn more about him and what is ahead for him in the role as Finance Director.
What will you be doing at SSF? I will be monitoring and analyzing accounting data to produce timely and accurate financial reports, while ensuring that proper accounting methods, policies and principles are followed in accordance with all relevant guidelines.
What motivated you to join SSF? I wanted to use the skills that I have to help the Sacramento community.
What do you wish people knew about homelessness? Homelessness is a lot more than just what you hear and see in the news. It’s a real struggle for many, not always a choice.
What are you excited to do in your new role? I’m excited to help build a framework for scalability in the organization, so that we can take on larger projects and be a community leader.
Is there anything else you’d like for our CoC community to know about you? Michael enjoys spending time with his family, recreational sports, photography, and the occasional home renovation project.
We are excited to have Michael join our growing team and we look forward to his contributions to optimizing the Finance Department.
We encourage you to explore the Sacramento programs we’re collaborating with and the critical projects they are carrying forward.
