As an educator, Anthony has worked primarily with homeless and underserved students. He has also worked for a number of years in the racial equity space. In his role as Racial Equity Specialist, he plans to further the work that has already been started around the Racial Equity Action Plan.

What will you be doing at SSF?  

In my role as Racial Equity Specialist, I plan to further the work that has already been started around our Racial Equity Action Plan. My goal is to also expand SSF’s work Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging work, both internally and externally.

What motivated you to join SSF? 

As an educator, I have worked primarily with homeless, underserved and low-wealth students. I have also worked for a number of years in the racial equity space. My role as Racial Equity Specialist provides the perfect marriage between my previous work and my continued passions.

What do you wish people knew about homelessness? 

I wish people knew that the solution to homelessness requires more than giving people spare change and occasional meals. Homelessness is systemic and requires diligent work, compassion, strategy and collaboration.

What are you excited to do in your new role? 

I am most excited to be working with like-minded, passionate individuals in this work. It is both encouraging and inspiring to walk alongside people who are driven by creating a better world. 

What would you like your team to know about you?

Though I have been doing this work for years and I intend on using that expertise to move our racial equity work and vision further, I don’t plan to work in isolation. I recognize that truly accomplishing racial equity requires collaboration, thought-partnership and shared core values. In this spirit, I welcome the community’s ideas and input.
