We are deeply appreciative of our volunteers who shared their time and served our community at the Sacramento Point-In-Time Count on February 23-24, 2022–especially with uncertainties around COVID-19. Their presence helped gain insight and improve our collective understanding of homelessness in Sacramento. Together, with hundreds of community volunteers, we were able to canvass over 130 zones and conduct over 500 household surveys across Sacramento.

Watch the video and/or browse the event photos to see some of the action from the PIT Count. The Sacramento CoC conducts a count of unsheltered persons every other year, as mandated by HUD. The Point-In-Time (PIT) count provides valuable data on the number of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness, as well as trends in subpopulation demographics such as veteran status, chronic homelessness, and transition age youth over time.
This count assesses the prevalence of unsheltered homelessness across Sacramento County during the coldest period of the calendar year. Sign up for our newsletters to get PIT-related updates (e.g., volunteering, committee participation, event logistics, etc.).
On the nights of February 23-24, volunteers were deployed from one of the locations below where they meet their teams and received canvassing resources (walking routes, reflective vests, etc.).Â
