Sacramento Steps Forward is the backbone of Sacramento’s Coordinated Access System (CAS), focusing on increasing access to shelter, housing, and supportive services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Rather than providing direct services, we:
- Build and maintain a strong prevention and diversion approach to reduce the need for emergency interventions.
- Manage client referrals to connect individuals with CAS-participating shelter and housing providers quickly and efficiently.
- Collaborate with and support housing providers, shelters, and access points to create a unified and effective system.
At Sacramento Steps Forward, we ensure every partner’s efforts are amplified and every individual in need has access to the right resources at the right time.
Sacramento Steps Forward is not a direct service provider. Those not imminently at risk of homelessness can access general resources through the 2-1-1 online portal. There, you will find information on holiday programs, military and veteran guides, vaccination information, and active severe weather spaces—including cooling and warming centers.
