What Is The HEARTH Academy?
The HEARTH Academy focuses on the most important changes in the HEARTH Act with a particular emphasis on outcome measures.
- Prior to the Clinic, communities provide their data in a number of ways, including from HMIS and through surveys of stakeholders.
- Participants receive information about changes at the national level, nation-wide best practices, and a data-based evaluation of the performance in their own community.
- In the Clinic, community participants engage with each other through structured activities and discussions, ultimately selecting key areas of system change to work on, including developing an action plan.
- After the Clinic, communities receive 90 days of technical assistance from the Alliance to assist with moving forward the action plan.
When Is The HEARTH Academy?
The HEARTH Academy is a 1 ½ day convening, and will be held on March 1st and 2nd. Register here to see the full agenda.
Where is The HEARTH Academy?
The HEARTH Academy will be held in the Sequioa Room at The Salvation Army, 3755 North Freeway Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95834.
Sacramento Homeless Connect 2011 was a success!
Sacramento Homeless Connect is an event modeled after the national ‘Project Homeless Connect’, started in San Francisco. It’s a one-day, one-stop resource fair for homeless folks, with an emphasis on hospitality and an overarching goal to bring the community together to support the services that help end homelessness. In Sacramento, Homeless Connect takes place at Sacramento City College, and for one day over 50 different service providers come together on the campus. Over 800 homeless folks have attended over the past 3 years of the event, and been able to access a myriad of services: housing, legal assistance, health and dental, haircuts and foot washing, employment services, clothing closets, information booths, and more! Childcare and pet care is provided on the day of the event for the guests. Each year volunteers participate in the event, helping out with various stations, working at the intake, and guiding guests.
On Saturday, May 21st we hosted our 4th annual Sacramento Homeless Connect event at Sacramento City College. We’re a tad biased, but we’d like to announce that the event was a HUGE SUCCESS! It was a cloudless, 80-degree spring day, the sun was shining and everyone had a fantastic time. We’ll be gathering data from our intake sheets and providers and releasing a report on the event, but until then we wanted to draw your attention to some notable successes. Read our initial results report here.
